Job Vacancy – Architectural Engineer
Al Marsad Al Makani for Engineering Consultancy, based in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, is seeking a highly qualified Architectural Engineer with at least 5 years of professional experience and proven expertise in architectural design, building permit issuance, and coordination with municipal authorities throughout Saudi Arabia.
First: Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and develop architectural designs and concepts (Concept Design), including detailed and construction drawings for residential, commercial, and administrative projects.
- Prepare building permit applications for new construction, modifications, extensions, and renovations, and follow up on permit issuance through the Balady platform and relevant authorities.
- Review architectural designs to ensure compliance with municipal requirements, the Saudi Building Code, and approved regulatory standards.
- Coordinate directly with municipal authorities, follow up on applications, transactions, and technical comments, and complete all procedures required for final approvals and permit issuance.
- Prepare area calculations, floor area schedules, building coverage ratios, setbacks, building heights, and parking requirements in accordance with applicable project regulations.
- Prepare technical and financial quotations for architectural design and building permit services, estimate engineering service costs, and develop scopes of work.
- Coordinate with structural, electrical, mechanical, safety, and fire protection disciplines to ensure design integration and compliance with permitting requirements.
- Follow up with clients and project stakeholders, prepare technical reports, and manage design and approval stages through to the delivery of final drawings and building permits.
Second: Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Architectural Engineering.
- At least 5 years of professional experience, including a minimum of 3 years within Saudi Arabia in architectural design and building permit issuance.
- Advanced knowledge of Saudi municipal regulations and requirements, particularly those of the Holy Makkah Municipality.
- Proven practical experience using the Balady platform, preparing building permit applications, following up on submissions, and resolving technical comments until final permit issuance.
- Advanced knowledge of the Saudi Building Code, architectural design requirements, and municipal regulations governing different building types and uses.
- Previous experience preparing technical and financial proposals and quotations for design and building permit services, as well as dealing with clients.
- Valid professional accreditation from the Saudi Council of Engineers in Architecture or Architectural Engineering. Professional-grade accreditation is preferred.
- Ability to independently manage architectural design projects and communicate effectively with government authorities and clients.
Third: Software and Technical Skills
Proficiency in essential architectural design software is required, particularly:
- AutoCAD: Preparing architectural, construction, and detailed drawings.
- Revit Architecture / BIM: Architectural modeling and preparation and coordination of Building Information Models.
- SketchUp / 3ds Max: 3D modeling and design development.
- Lumion / Enscape / V-Ray: Architectural visualization and production of realistic renderings.
- Adobe Photoshop / InDesign: Preparing professional architectural presentation boards.
- Microsoft Excel / PowerPoint: Preparing area schedules, quotations, and technical reports.
Fourth: Essential Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a professional Portfolio containing at least 10 previous architectural projects in which they were directly involved in design or building permit procedures, including:
- Project name, location, type, and area.
- Samples of architectural designs and drawings personally prepared by the applicant.
- Samples of issued building permits or drawings approved by municipal authorities, with confidential client information concealed.
- A clear description of the applicant’s actual role in design, permitting procedures, and follow-up activities.
- Identification of projects that have received formal approval and issued building permits.
Priority will be given to candidates with a documented track record of obtaining building permits and securing architectural drawing approvals from the Holy Makkah Municipality and other municipal authorities in Saudi Arabia.
